Cellulite affects about 90% of women. It’s a condition that not only is seen in the obese but also the thin. All women get it.
We’ve already mentioned that weight is a key component in contributing to the appearance of cellulite. So does this mean that losing weight can help reduce it?
Cellulite mostly appears in areas of the body where fat deposits and fluid can easily be stored. So people struggle with cellulite on their:
These are common places but it can also affect other parts of the body. Fat begins to clump together into bigger and bigger bits until the cellulite is formed. But if you have more fat in your body, this is more likely to happen. We all have fat under our skin, but the more there is, the more likely it is to clump together.
A Warning – The Causes
There are different reasons why cellulite might appear. There are some people who can’t run away from this condition. It has to do with their inherited genes. So even if you’re in peak physical condition you can still get it.
Remember that it’s a very common problem. There’s nothing you can do to prevent it completely. For example a changes in hormones, sudden changes in weight, or dehydration can also contribute towards it. Some of those elements you don’t really have control over.
How Exercise Helps
The appearance of cellulite can be improved but not be cured. So along with healthy eating habits, one must also do regular exercise. Burning calories actually helps reduce fat tissues. Earlier it was mentioned that fat deposits push up on the skin which is why it looks dimpled or bumpy. So if you lose the extra fat, there is less chance of it pushing up.
In addition, when muscles are being built, your body will become more toned. Thus, your body will become firm and the bumpy areas will even out a little bit more. It is important to choose an exercise routine which will help build target areas where there is much cellulite. Problem areas such as the thighs can be reduced in cellulite by doing exercises such as squats.
So with a combination of losing fat, and toning you muscle, you can see a considerable decrease in the appearance of cellulite. So going back to the title of this article the short answer is no, exercise can’t get rid of it. Nothing can completely get rid of cellulite (with the possible exception being laser treatment). But it can reduce the appearance of cellulite so it’s (depending on circumstance) imperceptible to the human eye.
