Adjusted Reviews & Score from Around the Web

“Adjusted” means we have filtered out the fake reviews, “sponsored” reviews and reviews where the customer didn’t use the device properly (for example they used the device once and gave up). You can read more about our reviews process on our main reviews page.

          • – 178 reviews – 3.7 Stars. We have adjusted this to 3.9 because of customers getting confused about different versions of the product (there is a version with more flashes) and other customers giving the device insufficient time to work.
          • – 28 reviews – 4.1 Stars. Adjusted to 4.4 because of a customer who leave usually low reviews, a customer who said their arm got tired using it, and the other reviews referencing poor customer service.

The Remington iLIGHT Pro Plus Quartz (yes we know it’s a bit of a mouthful) is one of the latest home based laser hair removal systems on the market. It’s a significant upgrade to the previous Remington device – the standard iLight Pro.

          The Core Remington Design

At the core design of this device is the popular Remington iLight. While it was a great device, it also had some shortcomings. Mainly that you needed to frequently buy replacement cartridges, and that it didn’t offer 100% permanent reduction. The Quartz addresses both of these concerns. But first let’s look at what stays the same. The device is incredibly sleek, neat, and professional looking.

It’s electronically powered so doesn’t need charging and has the raft of features which we liked on the original iLight pro such as the following:

          • There’s a sensor which makes sure your skin type is suitable.
          • There are several different intensity settings.
          • A skin contact sensor so you don’t waste flashes.

          What Has Changed?

One of the most important changes with the Quartz is that it’s now claimed to have permanent hair reduction. The iLight pro offered hair reduction which lasted approximately 6 months, then you’d need to top yourself up and give yourself another treatment as the hair follicles repaired themselves. However with the Quartz, the hair growth will be permanently reduced. Yes you’ll still need to give yourself top up sessions. But the hair which does grow back, will me much less thick, dense and black.

Additionally the Quartz has much more flashes per bulb so it’ll last much longer before needing to be replaced. 30,000 compared to 1,500. That’s more flashes than any one person needs. If required you can buy a replacement cartridge.

          The Usual Process

As with other devices you’ll need to use the Quarts a good few weeks before you start seeing results, 1-2 sessions or 1-2 weeks aren’t really enough to make a judgement. For example – the hair may seem to be growing, but it’s actually being pushed out of your skin and will eventually fall out completely.

iLight Quartz Pro Plus vs iLight Ultra

You may have also found another version of this product the iLight Ultra. The iLight Ultra has one main benefit – you can use it on your face (if you’re a woman, it doesn’t work on mens faces yet). It also has a slightly bigger surface area – 3sq cm compared to 2sq cm on the other versions. This means it can treat a large area of your body like your legs, much faster.

Lastly it has a massive 65000 flashes. This should basically be enough to treat two people for a very long time.

It’s just over 100$ more expensive for the Ultra, but obviously worth it if you want to treat the face too.

You can see the device in more detail here.

What’s the Difference Between Quartz & Glass Bulbs?

Quartz is crystalline and much harder than glass which is shown by the longer lasting nature of the quarts lamp vs the glass lamp. Additionally due to the makeup of quartz it allows a wider range of light to pass through it and therefore results in better hair removal.

Overall the iLight Quartz is a great upgrade over the original iLight. Although it’s more expensive the results really do rival the Tria. Which one is best for you is a matter of personal preference.

Please note that this video uses a mixture of devices, you can’t use the iLight Pro, or the iLIGHT Pro Plus Quartz on the face.
